Mexico City Proposes Remote Work for World Cup 2026

The Mexico City government proposes implementing remote work and online learning during World Cup 2026 matches to avoid traffic gridlock. The idea is for most residents to work from home and for students to attend classes remotely, similar to measures taken during the Covid-19 pandemic. This would ease road congestion as fans travel to the stadium. While official dates are not yet set, a public holiday for the opening match on June 11 is being considered. Estadio Banorte will host five matches, most on weekdays. The proposed dates for remote work are June 11, 17, 24, 30, and July 5.
